I promise not again…

The girls got a toy sink that pumps water out of the faucet. They have been having a blast with it this morning washing dishes. After a few minutes washing dishes, mom tells me I have to come take a look. Amelia is in the sink and Audrey is bathing her. About 15 minutes later, Audrey hollers that Amelia has peed in the sink. After bursting out in laughter first, I tell Amelia you can’t do that anymore. She responds, “I promise not again!”šŸ˜‚. Love my family!

Audrey Funnies

We’re doing the Daniel Fast for 21 days and we’re on day 5. We’ve talked about it and you’ve began noticing that mommy and daddy aren’t eating or drinking our normal stuff. Tonight you wanted a snack before bedtime and we let you have some carrots and a little bit of ranch…

Audrey: “Mommy, you can share my ranch with me, if you want to.”

Mommy: “Audrey, mommy and daddy are giving up ranch for Jesus right now.”

Audrey: “I wanna give up ranch for Jesus too…after I get done eating all of this!”šŸ˜‚

You crack us up girl!!! Mommy and daddy loves you!

Family Date to Rupp Arena

Was today (11/12/17) the first of many family bonding trips to watch the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball? Well, mommy and daddy were watching basketball. You, Audrey, we’re watching the cheerleaders and Scratch, the Wildcat! Amelia was mostly interested in the puffs and ice cream! Whoever we were watching, we had a successful first trip to Rupp Arena and this old Dad had a blast! You’re favorite moments were when the cheerleaders and dance team came out during breaks. You were sad when they went back to the sidelines. Next time we come back, daddy’s gonna get tickets closer to the cheerleaders so that you’re not upset when they go to the other side of the court. I had so much fun watching you cheer for them. I look forward to many more trips!! Remember your birthday is April 4th…the first week of April…just happens to coincide with the Final Four! If you ever decide to make that a daddy daughter tradition…that’ll be fine with me…and we can let mommy and Amelia tag along too even though they’re birthdays are in November.

UK 73 – Vermont 69

Amelia, you first UK game was a success! Mommy held you for most of the game. We both thought we’d only make it to halftime, but you and Audrey both were great!! When you got a little restless, Audrey started giving u big hugs and you calmed down. We had so much fun!! I hope we all get to share many memories together of watching the Cats!!

Day 2…no paci’s…”That was a good story Daddy,”

Tonight we were telling bedtime stories like we always do and after the story you started crying and asking for your paci. To try to distract you I asked if you wanted another bedtime story. You said yes as your cry became a quiet pout…” tell me a story about animals”…

Daddy:  Once upon upon a time there was a little girl…

Audrey (interrupts like you always do):  named Audrey and Amelia and mommy and daddy Martin.

Daddy:  That’s right, Audrey. The little girl named Audrey had a paci and she was going outside to play. She went out in the backyard and she saw a little cow that had a paci in her mouth. Audrey ran over to see the cow and said ” you silly cow!  Why do you have a paci?”  The cow replied, “I just had a birthday and I turned 3 years old.”

Audrey (interrupts again):  I’m 3 years old too daddy.

Daddy:  Wow!  That’s so cool. You and the cow are the same age! (We continued the story)…the cow told Audrey “Now that I’m 3 years old, I need to give my paci to a baby cow that needs a paci”. Audrey and the cow looked around the farm and saw a baby cow crying over next to the barn. So they went over to see why the baby cow was crying. Audrey asked, “Why are you crying baby cow?”  The baby cow said, “I don’t have a paci and I’m really sad!”  Then the little cow said, “I just had a birthday and I turned 3 years old!  I’m a big girl now and I don’t need my paci anymore. Do you want my paci baby cow?”  Baby cow cried, “Yes, I’m a baby cow and I need a paci!  Big girls like you and Audrey don’t need paci’s anymore!”  Audrey looked at the little cow and said, “She’s right little cow!  We’re big girls now and we don’t need paci’s!”  So Audrey and the little cow gave their paci’s to the baby cow and she was so happy!  The End.

Audrey:  That was a good story daddy!

I don’t know if it was a good story or if I successfully distracted you, but we sang Jesus Loves Me like we do every night and you went straight to sleep…without your paci. You’ve been saying “that’s a good story daddy” almost every night lately after we’ve made up bedtime stories. I hope to catch your sweet voice saying those words on video because they melt my heart every time. I love you Audrey!  Holding you at night, telling stories, singing “Jesus Loves Me”, and laying you in your crib…I don’t take these times for granted. They’re memories I will cherish forever. We may have taken your paci away…but you’ll always be my baby girl!

We took your paci’sšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚…wait for it…

Day 1 of no more paci’s…you got a card in the mail…we asked you to read it to us.

The pre-story… we planned on taking your paci’s on Valentines Day so we told you Cupid was going to get them and give them to little girls that didn’t have any paci’s. in return Cupid was going to give you some good candy. Unfortunately, you got sick around Valentines Day so we didn’t take them.

Mrs. Rita got you a gift card to Build-A-Bear for your birthday and mommy seized the opportunity to ask you if you wanted to give your paci to your new teddy bear (named Pumpkin…pronounced Punkin).  You excitedly said yes so we let you put the paci inside the bear. You helped put the stuffing inside the bear and then tied it up!  We ran into Mamaw Debbie in the mall and we prompted you to show her your new teddy bear and tell her about it. You told her that you put your paci inside. At that point, you realized that you didn’t have a paci and a mini breakdown ensued. Then you reminded us that you had more paci’s at home so mommy reminded you that Cupid had came by the house while we were gone and got all your paci’s for the little girls that needed them.  When we got home, we checked the mail and told you there was a card for you. We asked you to read it and mommy got it on video. 4-8-17

Conversations with a 2 year old…šŸ˜‚

Tonight during bedtime routine…Me: Audrey, do you know that daddy will love you forever and ever?

Audrey: Yes

Me: Do you know that daddy would do anything in the world for you?

Audrey: OK, stay home from work tomorrow. #backfire

Also tonight….

Audrey:  I want Jesus to come out of my heart right now…I want to see him. (As she lifts her shirt and looks at her belly button like Jesus was getting ready to come out)

Love my girls!!!!
